I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most careful person. I lose things. Often. I can always hear my mom or dad’s voice in my head saying “Did you remember your…” The problem is sometimes that voice doesn’t go off and I forget something.
Bruce and I made our way down the beautiful west coast of NZ. We had numerous people tell us “You have to stop at the glaciers.” So we stopped. It was gorgeous and we had pictures and video that we had to take. I had to take a time lapse photo. It is an obsession that I have.
Sadly, I lost my time lapse remote somewhere between Sydney and NZ… but, there was another option: the iPhone, with the app known as “Reel Moments.” It was my new go to and super handy when I needed it. The only problem was that I had to leave my phone somewhere while it was going.
Yep, you guessed it. I forgot the phone while I was doing a time lapse of the Franz Joseph Glacier. We hiked all the way out and once I got into the car I realized that I didn’t have my phone. Sprinting back to the look out point I found a stack of rocks without my phone.
What was I going to do? What could I do? NZ is honest and a great place to be forgetful. Two hours later we got a call on Bruce’s phone. A Spanish tourist picked it up and we got the phone back. Whew!
A tip for travelers: Always do the “Spectacles testicles, wallet, watch, iPhone,” pat down.
