Smitten Me Please: San Francisco’s Premier Ice Cream
January 9, 2012
When Bruce and I were back in SF, we linked up with Smitten Ice Cream because of a referral from my friend Patrick Stern. Pat told me that Smitten made ice cream to order, which I thought was impossible.
The next day, I had my first ice cream at Smitten. Like always, I had my camera with me. Eliza, Smitten's Marketing/Social Media Manager, saw me taking photos and asked if I was a photographer. "Something like that," I replied. After five minutes, Eliza convinced me to take some photos for Smitten. Naturally, OH had to do a video on this unique place as well.
As a nutrition coach, I can honestly say that ice cream is in ... (more...)
Nessie’s Wagon: Travel around South America and Explore the Unexplored
December 23, 2011
By Harry
The journey of Organic Hobo has a double meaning. OH searches for organic food and movement around the world, but the journey itself is organic as well. Hobos are travelers, nomads, gypsies who are on the road constantly. Bruce and I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of travelers around the world. We usually call these people Honorary Hobos. Near Tayrona National Park, we had the pleasure of organically bumping into Rose and Dave, who were on their own adventure -- "Nessie’s adventure." Nessie was their green Mercedes police truck/van converted into their home and mode of transport. Together, Rose and Dave saved up their money, sold their house, and hit the ... (more...)
Street Art & Street Smart in Bogota: Travel Tips for the Uninitiated
December 9, 2011
by Bruce
We've arrived in Bogota, Colombia. South America. For Harry and I both, this is a new continent and it was our intention to conclude our trip during the summer season in the southern hemisphere. But Bogota is anything but tropical white sandy beaches, and warm water lagoons I'd imagined this Caribbean country would be. It is in fact, a bit dodgy.
At an elevation of more than 8,500ft its cool here. Very cool. Afternoon rains are quite common and I could've been smart and packed a raincoat but I didn't. The city is crowded (over 8 million people) and the traffic is the worst I've experienced. Our taxi took approximately 30mins to move 5 blocks. Even the ... (more...)
The Spanish Host: Miguel Angulo AKA Maui
November 25, 2011
By Harry
On Wednesday, Bruce and I left Madrid, Spain. We were more than sad to say, "Goodbye," to our friend, Miguel Angulo. While in Madrid, we had the pleasure of assisting Miguel on a few of his projects, and he on ours. OH was finally collaborating internationally!
Miguel recently got contracted by a French-based company called ATYPYK, a company all about sustainable products and clever design. Naturally, Bruce and I jumped at the opportunity to help him. He was our host and our good friend. The least we could do was offer him our video skills.
We helped shoot these videos and Miguel edited them:
The best part of ATYPYK was that they were a ... (more...)

Back in August Bruce and I made it out to Eastern Europe to visit our foodie friends Robin and Valeria. Meeting them is one of the highlights of Episode One "A Difference a Day Makes." As a thank you for setting us up free lodging in both Budapest and Palić we made them this video for their wedding...
NZ Fast Forward
July 30, 2011
By Harry
It’s that time again, to say goodbye. New Zealand, it’s been a pleasure, but like all things we need to move on. Saying goodbye to NZ is more than a farewell to a place. We are also saying goodbye to the chronological order of OH. Changes are coming, for the better. We are now going to super charge OH. I’m looking forward to it, and so should you. Until next time. Here’s one of my favorite forms of cinematography, time-lapse, created with my iPhone via ReelMoments.
Enjoy!
Next to Last Stop: The Coromandel

Coromandel
Our 86 Mitusibishi van was burning oil and it was in bad need of a refill. I was reminded of this every we time we rounded a hard corner the little red light would flicker. We snaked our way up through the steep and winding roads to the peninsula’s eastern side. If there was anywhere Bertie couldn’t fail us, it was there on that drive. From Rotorua ... (more...)
Lake Taupo & Three men inna tub

Location: Wellington en route to Lake Taupo, NZ
Traveling with father and son now, it’s a lot easier when I’m behind the wheel because I have something to hold onto. We passed those few days in Wellington getting reacquainted with our friends at Coffee Supreme and Sweet Mother’s Kitchen. We even stopped at Fidel’s for breakfast but it was jam packed with hungry cool kids, so we opted for coffee and eats to go. The baked goods on display in the case looked especially mouth-watering. Muffins looked moist and delicious. Berry scones looked pillowy soft. I could have easily crammed a scone down my ... (more...)
Best Deal on a hobo Budget: Te Papa
July 13, 2011
by Bruce
Location: Wellington, NZ
The best kept secret in Wellington is not a cafe, or organic veggie restaurant, its a museum. Topping my list of “How to spend your afternoon in Wellywood” is a visit to the TePapa museum on the Wellington waterfront. Really, its an excellent value for the money. Its free in fact. There are over five floors dedicated to science, wildlife, natural history, Maori culture and tradition and all presented quite thoughtfully via touchscreen displays, interactive floors, walk-thru gardens, etc. There’s almost too much to see and do. Even at our brisk pace, we barely managed to get through two floors. I could’ve easily spent the entire afternoon in the wildlife section reading about New ... (more...)
